*We Are All Witnesses Ad*

This ad to me is one of most influential ad’s in the history of sports. To those who do not know this is Lebron James, love him or hate him Lebron is by far the best basketball player in the world and had the chance to become the greatest player of all time. This ad came out in 2003 when Lebron was only 18 years old. Lebron at such a young age suddenly had everything, all the money he could think of and the work ethic unmatched by any previous NBA rookies. This ad was a staple in the city of Cleveland everywhere you went you saw this ad, on the sides of buildings and on TV it was everywhere. In 2003 an ad like this was very un common for a un-proven rookie but everyone simply knew once he stepped foot on a court he was something special. “We are All Witnesses” has since followed Lebron in his NBA career. To me this ad just shows the power and attention Lebron got at such a young age since him there has not been someone who captured so much attention and the desire to watch his other move on the court.

The Egos of this ad to convince everyone that we are all witnesses of greatness. Lebron is not just any typical NBA all star he has the ability to retire as the greatest of all time. The Pathos of this ad could be for all of us young kids out there to help us realize we are all witnesses maybe the best player of all time and to not take him for granted. The Logos of this ad appeals to all of us sport fans.

May 29

What I have learned so far during class today is how a simple picture can mean so much even with no words. For example my group and I looked at an advertisement for the company “Band-Aid” the advertisement was just showing the Hulk’s hand with a band aid on it. There is no words on this advertisement but just after a couple of seconds we all were able to come up with the purpose of this ad and even the audience this ad was targeted at.

*Olympics Logo*  June 2nd

The Olympic Rings is one of the most well known logos in the entire world. Every two years the world is blessed with top of the line competition. The athletes spend years of their lives training every single day to only hope to bring home one of the coveted medals back to their home country. Every Olympics has its own special logo or “design” but the Olympic rings has been synonymous with the Olympics ever since 1912. These rings were created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the co-founder of the modern Olympic Games. Coubertin claims that the reason he chose the colors: blue, yellow, black, green and, red with the white background was because that was the colors on all of the flags of the Countries in the Olympics prior to 1912. The symbol’s popularity and widespread use began during the lead-up to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Carl Diem, president of the Organizing Committee of the 1936 Summer Olympics ordered construction of a milestone with the Olympic rings carved in the sides, and that a torchbearer should carry the flame along with an escort of three others. The ceremony was celebrated but the stone was never removed.

*Hulk Band Aid Ad*

This ad to me was very interesting it was the first time I have ever seen this ad and I have to say that Band Aid really “knocked it out of the park.” The ad was showing the super-hero Hulk having a band aid on one of his fingers its funny at first but after talking about the ad with my group the ad was done very well. This ad shows the importance of band aids and that we all need to cover our cuts. My group came up with the idea that the reason Band Aid chose the Hulk as the person wearing the band aid was to show even the strongest, toughest on earth need band aids. We also came up that maybe they chose the Hulk because they wanted to show mothers and fathers how strong there band aids are, if it can cover up the Hulks cuts it can cover up your child’s!

*Ethos Logos Pathos*

Ethos, Pathos and Logos are modes of persuasion used to convince audiences. They are also referred to as the three artistic proofs and are all represented by Greek words. Ethos means to convince an audience of the author’s credibility or character.  Pathos is the emotional appeal, means to persuade an audience by appealing to their emotions. Logos is the appeal to logic, means to convince an audience by use of logic or reason. Source Used:( http://pathosethoslogos.com )

*Spike Lee Short* June 3rd

Watching this short clip had me laughing uncontrollably the main character is from the TV show the Sopranos witch in my personal opinion is the greatest TV show of all time. This clip had a lot going on in the the brief two minutes, its explicit details are there was a group of kids playing in the streets and opened up a fire hydrant to cool themselves off. An older gentlemen drove by yelling and cursing telling the kids that they better not get his car wet because it was an “antique.” The kids did not listen at all and proceeded to completely soak this mans car, with all of this happening the older man went ballistic on the kids and called the police. When the police were called the kids took off running and when the cops arrived they clearly were not interested in finding the kids. My evaluations of this short was one it was extremely funny and that the police don’t want to waste their resources on such small crimes. The purpose of this short in my opinion was to show how the streets of NYC were back than.

*English 101 Jets*

For my final paper for the course English 101 I decided to do some very deep investigation into the than upcoming NFL Draft and all that goes into this long process, specially using the New York Jets as my example. All of my explicit details came from my personal history of Football and using accurate NFL sources. (ESPN, Bleacher Report, Deadspin) The purpose of this paper was to expose all of the extensive details that go into the whole process of the NFL Draft. A lot of people think that it is just as easy as picking the player with the most skill but a lot of intel and figuring out if that player will fit the teams schemes.

*Literacy Narrative*

For my literacy narrative I have chosen to use both an academic writing from 2013 and a paper I did in 2014 that I am extremely passionate about. My academic paper is on the recent unfortunate outbreak of PTSD and my “passion paper” is on the New York Jets. I am and have always been a die heart football fan specifically the New York Jets. PTSD is a heartbreaking development especially in veterans. Comparing these two topics wont be easy but it will be something I am very excited in doing. Along with all of the detailed stats and analyze I will also bring personal life experiences into this paper. I played football throughout my years of high school and enjoyed every second of it.

Jamilla Lyiscott Spoken Poem

Genere: Comedy

I believe the purpose of this poem was, talking about all of the different forms of English. Ms. Lyiscott went on talking about all of the different rules of English and how EVERYONE has there own version if it. She spoke about her personal three forms of English School, Family and Friends. Which is 100% True! Mrs. Lyiscott claims just because her English isn’t like everyones else doesn’t mean she is not articulate.
